about

In this song, Miriam blends the Modah Ani (Jewish morning blessing) with a rich soundscape of Robin songs, deep breaths, and gushing harmonies, inviting the listener to access the powerful spiritual light that is available to every person each day.

Conceived in the dark and cold winter days of the 2020 Pandemic, this song is a prayer of longing for a return to Sacred Time, to rise up each day, and thank Creator for our lives.

We learn from the 16th century Kabbalist HaAri, that the Modah Ani prayer is about becoming aware and making a bond between our finite bodies and the infinite spiritual light.

The light of the sun carries with it a spiritual essence that cannot be expressed in the physical world, but is the expression of infinite light and love.

It is with this essence that we are destined to connect with, each morning.

Like having solar panels in our heart, we are meant to become sensitive to the divine light, and to turn towards it, and become energized by it.

"I wrote this song because, just like a child,
the divine wanted to play with me in the morning time
- slowly, gently, with breath
And I want to play too!
I didn’t want my first part of the day to be checking my phone.
I wanted to be breathing with the breath of life, and connecting to my purpose. So that is what I’m going for here." - Miriam Rubin

Modah Ani is about welcoming the infinite life force into our bodies.

It’s about acknowledging the hidden potential at the start of each day.

It’s about acknowledging that literally the rest of your life is ahead of you from this moment forward.

This song is a reminder to breath with the morning light.

Like David Whyte writes in his poem What to Remember When Waking:

“to remember
the other world
in this world
is to live
Your true inheritance”

This song can be a daily companion, and invitation
to get up and play with the divine.

When you listen,
allow yourself to breathe with me,
and let the Morning Light to tickle your heart awake,
and inspire your breath to become song of your life.

lyrics

Morning light calls to me
Air becomes my breath
New day of possibility
Draws me up from bed

Plucking strings of time
Praising life with all of me
